Diamond Hill Vineyards
Blackstone Valley & Northern Rhode Island
Diamond Hill is managed by Pete and Claire Berntson. The Berntsons did their first planting of Pinot Noir vines in 1976 and now cultivate ten acres of this classic French grape. The first vintage released is the 1983 Pinot Noir, grown at Diamond Hill with special attention to proper yield and vinified in the French tradition using new French oak barrels for aging. Because fine Pinot Noir requires this long aging, they decided to explore the potential of making other wines from New England with fruits such as apples, blueberries and peaches to name a few. Diamond Hill has been commended for its Cranberry Apple, Blueberry, Peach, Plum, and Pinot Noir Blanc wines as well as its 1993 Pinot Noir.

Newport Vineyards & Winery
Newport County
Newport Vineyards & Winery in Middletown was originally planted in 1977 on a hill overlooking Rhode Island Sound with the goal of producing fine table wines and as a way of preserving beautiful agricultural land from rapid development. Since the initial plantings of Seyval and Vidal, they have also added Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marechal Foch, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Landot Noir. Today the family run winery is one of the most modern in the East and produces a line of fine premium table wines from their own grapes and from nearby vineyards.
